At Roo Tack, every item made is one-of-a-kind - no two items are ever the same.

The items I make are made from Australian kangaroo hides.  I cut, split and bevel my own strings from these hides.  Because I make my own strings, there are no splices, and therefore, the tack is of superior strength. The products are made from either 4, 6, 8 or 12-ply braids, according to what is the most functional and attractive for the item ordered.  I have 4 colors of hides available: natural, tan, whiskey and black.  Every-thing is custom made so you can pick and choose a single color or combination of colors of braids and buttons.  The buttons are the knots and slides that hold a piece together and enable you to adjust the size of your headstall, collar, etc.

Kangaroo leather is superior to all other leather for braided items.  It is stronger than cowhide for the thickness of a string cut for braiding.  It is also very, very soft and supple, so items made from kangaroo are extremely comfortable for your animal to wear. High quality soccer and football shoes are made from kangaroo leather for this reason.

Before I make a headstall for a client, we will discuss the color of their saddle and horse, so that the piece I make will compliment both.  I take into consideration your horse's head shape so that we can pick the head-stall style (single ear, double ear or brow band with throat latch) that will compliment your horse.  Every item made is custom order.
